Welcome

Welcome to the community consultation website for Spaldington Airfield Wind Farm.

Coriolis Energy and their partners Falck Renewables plc submitted a planning application for a wind farm at Spaldington Airfield, 5km north of Howden in November 2009.  The application for 5 wind turbines would if constructed generate enough green electricity for at least 5,900 homes.

Numerous studies were carried out in accordance with the relevant regulatory requirements and planning guidance.  These studies demonstrate that Spaldington Airfield is a good location to accommodate a wind farm.

Further to a public inquiry held at Goole Council offices in summer 2011, the Spaldington Airfield Wind Farm was granted planning consent on 29th September 2011.

The Planning Inspector who considered the proposal concluded that the proposal would not have an unacceptable impact on the local environment and that significant weight should be attached to the need for renewable energy and environmental benefits of the scheme.

Coriolis Energy and Falck Renewables will now carry out the necessary pre-construction work and surveys.  Work on site is likely to start in 2012 further to agreement of a wind turbine supply contract.  Further details of the programme will be issued when available.
